    1. Introduction

The purpose of this work is to compare Euro Top spring mattress and foam mattress for kids from 0 to 18 years. This study will be useful to parents who want to get a good mattress at a reasonable cost. Twelve mattress models from several companies and stores will be considered. A comparative analysis of mattress characteristics will be made using such criteria as mattress firmness, safety, adaptability to the body, and others.

Shopping in a specialized store for parents, the Sims Urban Oasis, selling children’s goods in Singapore, parents are confused by an abundance of various models of children’s furniture. In the bedding department, every parent who wants to buy a child’s mattress for a cot or a crib is offered a choice between a foam mattress and a Euro Top spring mattress. At the same time, models and modifications of these types of mattresses are available for nursery, juniors, and teens. No material was found that gives a detailed comparison of these types of mattresses. In the absence of analysis between these types of mattresses, parents are more inclined to make purchases with known models and brands, but they can overpay.

    1.1. Background and Significance

In Singapore, mattresses for children can be categorized mainly as either spring mattresses or foam mattresses. This study presents a comparative analysis of short-listed mattresses with features that are available for easy selection. We conduct a descriptive assessment of these mattresses to provide a comparison of the overall cost, dimensions, materials, warranty duration and warranty terms, and environmental certifications. In addition, two special features are evaluated. These are the product delivery mode and the inclusion of a waterproof mattress protector. On top of that, key selection factors which may heavily influence the purchase of the mattress for children are discussed. With this practical comparison, parents are able to make an informed decision and choose a better mattress for their children.

Buying a new mattress for your child is a personal decision, and there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to which type of mattress is best for your kid. You’ll need to consider a host of factors when selecting the mattress that will best serve your child, such as his or her age, weight, and typical developmental stage. The amount of support a mattress provides may be the most significant factor to consider. Good support from a mattress helps by promoting a good night’s sleep and providing a comfortable and supportive space for growing bones and muscles to relax and develop.

    2. Euro Top Spring Mattresses

Favorable features of euro top spring mattresses, such as light in weight, flippable, firmer while maintaining good support with motion isolation, long duration of usage without sagging or developing body impression, high breathability and heat reduction, antimicrobial and hypo-allergenic mattress construction, and good safety considerations such as meeting the set safety standards, passing or exceeding the test requirements not just in the structure, base, zipper, lock seam, filling material, and foam as well as in the use of chemicals, fire retardants, and plasticizers.

Specifications for the mattresses for children from the newborn stage up to adolescence years need to be reviewed carefully for consideration after the difference of children and adults in response to the physical comfort were presented. In the result of surveys for the typically used mattresses for children, the preferred choices by families with their reasoning were included as the option in the general checklist of children’s mattress purchase. Then, parents, medical specialists, and experienced sales staff in one-stop children furniture retail shop will be conducted with children’s growth stage to understand how mattresses and children’s growth stage match. With the most updates and user-friendly information, a matrix with a comparison of euro top spring mattresses and foam mattresses which are commonly used in the market was generated.

    2.1. Definition and Features

The mattress types can generally be classified as innerspring mattress, foam (or viscoelastic) mattress, cotton mattress, or air bed. The main differences are the way the mattresses support your body and the comfort that they provide. At the end of the day, the best mattress should provide great sleep. On this site, we compared the spring mattress and a few types of foam mattresses that are suitable for children. For foam mattresses and air beds, this site mostly discusses safe mattresses of good quality.

Sleep has become very important, leading to an increasing demand for materials that help enhance the quality of good sleep. Sleep quality may be improved with a good mattress since we usually get fidgety when sleeping. However, there are many types of mattresses to choose from. This site identifies the different types of mattresses available in Singapore and compares them. Hopefully, this helps you in selecting the best mattress you need.

    2.2. Pros and Cons

Like mattresses, no matter what type, whether it’s Euro top or foam, they always have their pros and cons. It is not right to conclude that one is better than the other. It is important to consider their characteristics and user scenarios in order to decide whether the Euro top spring or foam mattress will be more suitable for you. Observe your children, as well as yourselves, when they finally start to sleep in their cribs or small beds. Other than the type of mattress, factors such as price, dimensions and cover materials, feel of surface materials, mattress hygiene requirements, motion isolation, age of child, support and safety needs, together with understanding individual specific needs, capacity to remove liquid or moisture, foam allergy, support and body pressure distribution, motion isolation, isolate stress points, posture, hygiene and safety, heat retention, ease of setup, odor potential, lifetime, and warranty are also factors to consider when choosing the best support for your children.

Foam mattresses largely consist of a single type of foam, with only a few models including one more layer of latex foam. There are some pros and cons to foam mattresses. Firstly, they have high conformity to the body, thereby providing good support and pressure distribution. Secondly, they are durable and lightweight. Thirdly, they have no motion transfer between partners. Fourthly, they are budget-friendly, lightweight, and easy to change the bed linens and clean. In addition, they can be used with adjustable bed frames and are available in various firmness options. However, there are some cons to these mattresses. Firstly, they are low in thermal neutrality. As a result, the body may overheat after a long period of lying on the mattress. Secondly, they have a short shelf life, as they provide comfort and good performance for approximately 6-7 years. Thirdly, they deform over time, as natural aging of polyurethane causes changes in the foam mattress topper. Fourthly, they have low bounce, so it is difficult to change sleep positions on them. Lastly, some low-end options have poor edge support and lack reinforcement.

    3. Foam Mattresses for Children

    – For the foam mattresses to be made of materials containing no harmful chemicals. – For the foam mattresses to be easy to wash. – For the foam mattresses to be cool during the initial sleepy stage and in the following hours. – For the foam mattresses to support their child well and be long-term in service.

The distinctive feature of foam mattresses for children is that they have area differentiation and a plurality of layers. According to users, modern foam mattresses meet children’s upper cervical vertebra requirements well. The foam bed top usually performs the function of protection, coolness, comfort, and air permeability, and is characterized by mobility in use. As it is difficult for the child to understand the state of his/her body, his/her behavior during sleep may lead to weak blood supply to the body parts. The most important role of the foam mattress for children consists in ensuring the right body position during sleep in order to favor fast growth and development in childhood. The chief users’ requirements for foam mattresses for children are as follows:

    3.1. Types and Characteristics

Foam mattresses are thin and light. They come with varied foam density and thickness, and higher quality foam provides better support for heavier weight. Foam mattresses can be portable and flippable. Portable mattresses can be flipped from side to side for a certain period of time. Flipable mattresses can be flipped from top to bottom.

This volume compares the details of 4 types of mattresses for children.

Physical activity during the day requires an extra sound sleep in a comfortable setting to ensure proper normal development of the child. A child mattress serves the sole purpose of the child’s lifestyle, as they spend most of their time indoors. A suitable child mattress, from birth to puberty, contributes to the growth, development, and overall well-being of the child. There are many types of mattresses that manufacturers produce for children. Most commonly used materials to produce a child mattress include foam, coil spring, foam or coil spring, and latex and coconut coir.

    3.2. Benefits and Drawbacks

Drawbacks: (1) They are much more expensive. (2) They are bulky and heavy (first of all, when you want to change linen it is physically hard to do). (3) They can cause allergies, for they are made of natural materials (fillers, cover and other furniture materials).

Benefits: (1) They are elastic and can adequately adapt to the physique of a child’s body. (2) They are cool, for air circulation is good. (3) They are durable – with proper care they can last up to 10 years. (4) They are of a varied assortment and are equipped with firm edges, which allows them to look good in a child’s room, turning into part of the interior.

    Euro Top Spring Mattress

The manufacturing technology of Euro top spring mattresses has been improved and mastered by our Singaporean partners from Kids Haven. Both types demonstrate high grades by most consumers. The data obtained during the trials of mattresses for children enable us to observe that each of these types is characterized by benefits and drawbacks, which are as follows:

    4. Comparison of Euro Top Spring Mattresses and Foam Mattresses for Children

The following study reveals 2020, named “Optimization of the Construction of Children’s Mattresses in order to Promote Health and Safety”.

Yogurt’s egg-shaped profile and bearing conventional bed mattress assembly increase the softness of the mattress, thereby adapting the child’s bedding to the comfort requirements, ensuring that the body receives a deep, powerful physiological relaxation during sleep.

It is very notable that Euro Top spring mattresses were more stable as they supported this age group of children of different weights. That’s why this mattress design is the preferred solution for children under the age of 3-4 years.

The aim of the study is to compare the supporting capacity of commercial Euro Top spring mattresses and foam mattresses for children. The results are very necessary for a parent with small children or for someone who is planning to have children.

In addition to the sufficient mantle stiffness, learning about the different materials used in the production process and especially the comfort for both the newborn and the baby will lead to a reasonable choice.

The importance of choosing an appropriate mattress to support the proper development of the child’s body in early childhood and reduce the chances of skeletal and soft-tissue disorders in adulthood is non-negligible. Due to the specific development of a newborn baby, attention should be paid to the improvement of these mattresses.

Twins Mattress sells Emma, MaxCoil, Viro, Babysafe, and Auswell mattresses with the egg tray design at a discount.

In Singapore, foam mattresses by Simmons, Sealy, and MaxCoil are soft and undergo deformation, while IKEA foam mattresses have relatively thin layers, and their durability is not high. In general, it is recommended to purchase Euro spring mattresses from MaxCoil for children older than one year. Foam mattresses from Vono Kinlatex Alwyn and those with a buckwheat layer are also suitable.

Foam mattresses have a core made from latex, foamed high-resilience fiber, or spotted latex. When choosing a single foam mattress, one should pay attention to its durability and suitability for the child’s weight. Often, it is recommended to choose foam mattresses with mattresses or a buckwheat layer instead.

The main difference between Euro Top spring mattresses and foam mattresses lies in the core material. Euro Top spring mattresses have lamella blocks, independent springs, or elastic springs in between layers of coconut coir. These mattresses are durable and suitable for children, especially those who often jump on the bed or are overweight.

Section 4: Comparison of Euro Top Spring Mattresses and Foam Mattresses for Children

Comparative analysis of Euro Top spring mattresses and foam mattresses for children in Singapore

    4.1. Comfort and Support

Spring mattresses are innately supportive due to their interlocking construction and multiple comfort layers. When children lie on the bed, the springs will compress based on the weight and size of their body, instantly adjusting to ensure that their bones are parallel to the surface. In this way, the right parts of the body will be given the lift they need for balance and weight distribution. This unique arrangement avoids the heavier body parts from sinking too deeply into the upholstery layers of the mattress. In contrast, the core density of a foam mattress will significantly change the supportiveness of the product. Typically, the softer the foam, the lesser the support that is provided, while the firmer the foam, the more supportive the foam. A foam mattress that is too soft may not hold up the body effectively, causing the heavier parts to sink in more than the rest of the body. This may interfere with the growth of the child, affecting the curvature of the spine.

Both foam and spring mattresses can provide support and comfort for kids, but parents are often unsure about which mattress is better for their children. After all, manufacturers often label their products as both supportive and comfortable, regardless of the underlying composition of these mattresses. The comfort of a mattress refers to how well it cushions the body during sleep. It also dictates the “feel” on the bed, influencing the overall experience when lying on the surface. On the other hand, support relates to the ability of a mattress to hold up the head, torso, and legs in the proper alignment. As newborn children will spend more than half of their day sleeping, they require a comfortable and supportive mattress to ensure their biological needs are satisfied. Failure to do so may result in cranky children who have difficulty maximizing their learning potential.

    4.2. Durability and Longevity

The same concerns raised for testing full-size foam and Euro top spring mattresses must be observed in adjustable bed testing. The various arrangements of adjustable boards or bed slats in an electric adjustable bed could shorten the lives of both foam and Euro top spring mattresses. As these beds serve both as a body support and chair alike, users may bend the bed sections several times a day. These consistent movements could cause Euro top spring mattresses to collapse due to the repetitive folding and unfolding of the bed sections. The wooden bed slats of both Euro top spring and foam mattresses may also become bowed as well as sway bed slats presently in use.

Testing for durability and longevity should only be carried out on those mattresses that are ready for purchase and use. Since mattresses are lengthy items, it is difficult for both manufacturers and importers to stock high numbers as the turnover rate for this item is slow. However, foam and Euro top spring mattresses are both expensive and significant childhood products. It is important that every single foam and Euro top spring mattress for children be long-lasting if the finance of families be taken into consideration. As such, there is no leniency in the testing of foam and Euro top spring mattresses for children; all items must pass the requirements as stated in this report.

    4.3. Price and Affordability

Currently, there are many factors that affect the choice of mattress that parents will purchase for their children. A focus on affordability will move parents toward purchasing nullifying foam mattresses. The relatively high price point of the Euro Top spring mattresses may therefore potentially act as a barrier for many parents. Some parents may have higher price tolerance towards a higher quality product, and the notion that a mattress is an investment that is worth the money spent, provided that the child indeed sleeps well. The fashion and comfort aspects provided by a thicker Euro top layer found in a more premium product may therefore be enough to entice some parents who are able to afford the ETSM to make the higher spend.

Price is an important factor when it comes to purchasing items for children. The price range for the foam mattresses (FMs) is $79 to $153, making the mattress choice highly affordable. In contrast, the Euro Top spring mattresses (ETSMs) are much higher in the price range, with the range being $572 to $1197, which is about seven to ten times costlier than the foam mattresses. This represents a significant difference. Although some brands such as King Koil and Lotus have mattresses that are priced slightly lower down the cost scale, a major reason for the higher price tag could be due to the thick Euro top layers that are present in the ETSM.

    5. Conclusion

The research found that the comparison between the top Euro spring mattress with climate control system and the top foam mattress by the tests on supporting a human body, keeping the required temperature inside and cooling down to the rest required level showed that the top Euro spring mattress with climate control system is better than the top foam mattress. The tests have shown the difficulty in comparison of the mattresses with different structure because of the effect of many factors and some more hypotheses. However, the results of the research indicate the superiority of the top Euro spring mattress with climate control system for a child’s health. The urine-proof protection is not required in the top Euro spring mattress; therefore, it is not necessary to inform the child about the use of diapers to choose this mattress.

The top Euro spring mattresses are better compared to the top foam mattresses by tests on supporting a human body, keeping the required temperature inside and cooling down to the rest required level, whatever the mattresses have the urine-proof protection or not. This conclusion strongly depends on the choice of springs for the top Euro spring mattress. Since the decision to use the top Euro spring mattress is not much more expensive than foam mattress, in several aspects it will be better for child health, and considerations of bedwetting may not eventually play the determining role in its choice.

    5.1. Key Takeaways and Recommendations

First, manufacturers can control the prices of mattresses in accordance with their costs and production techniques, as well as with the competitive price for replacing the product on the market over time. Every product, to be competitive and obtained by profits, must have a price coherent with its features. According to the collected information, we found that the forward part of a spring mattress or its topper contains high-quality materials, including hard and flexible foams and felt layers. These layers help to increase the firmness of the mattress and protect the child’s sensitive body. However, at the back part of the mattress, one can find basic blocks of bonnell springs that provide proper firmness and increased support to the mattress. Then, the foam mattress is built using a water-resistant polyester cover that includes a mixture of materials such as the soft and hard foam sheets to increase the child’s comfort.

In this study, we analyzed the Euro top spring and foam mattresses for children, which are popular in Singapore. We presented a comparison of these products on the basis of key parameters such as their thickness, cover, and inner materials, as well as their price and ratings. Estimating the average mattresses’ price, one can see that spring mattresses are more expensive than foam mattresses. However, spring mattresses are rated higher than foam mattresses. The highest rated foam mattress is Kevin from Novena, while the Spring Single from Ikea that comes with the mattress spring is popular among spring mattresses. We collected numerical ratings such as the firmness ratings of spring and foam mattresses. We found that both kinds of mattresses differed in their materials. These results help relevant people to make informed decisions for purchase.
